The Municipality of Huron East will commemorate National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on Tuesday, September 30, with remembrance and reflection.
The flag at Town Hall will be lowered in recognition of the children who never returned home, the Survivors of residential schools, and their families and communities. All residents, staff, and community members are encouraged to wear orange shirts as a visible sign of support and commitment to reconciliation.
The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is a time to reflect on the tragic legacy of residential schools and to honour Indigenous voices, cultures, and histories. It is also a call to action for all Canadians to engage in meaningful dialogue and learning.
The Huron East Municipal Office will be open for regular hours.
