The Municipality of Huron East ensures a safe and healthy environment for both animals and residents in our community by enforcing its Animal Control By-law.
Huron East employs an Animal Control Officer to ensure all regulations outlined in the by-law are followed.
Dog owners in Huron East are required to obtain a dog tag annually for each dog in their household before February 28th, or within 15 days of becoming a dog owner.
Please ensure that the tag is securely affixed on the dog at all times, until renewed, or replaced. To obtain a dog tag, please visit the Municipal Office with a completed Dog Tag Application.
Completed applications can also be mailed, along with payment by cheque, to the Municipality of Huron East and your tag(s) will be returned to you by mail.
Owners must make rabies shot information available to the Municipality upon request.

Requirements for operating a Kennel within Huron East can be found in By-Law 44-2015, Section 8.
To obtain a Kennel License please contact the Municipal Office prior to building any type of Kennel structure, etc. as there are certain zoning requirements and standards in place.
Kennel Licenses need to be renewed annually following inspection by the Animal Control Officer.

If you see a dog running at large, or have lost your dog, please contact the Animal Control Officer or the Municipal Office. | ||||||||||

To report a violation of By-Law 44-2015 please Report It to the Municipal Office. The Animal Control Officer may wish to contact you to confirm information, or ask further questions regarding the issue. Please note that complaint information is considered confidential and will not be released to the person whose property is under complaint. |

If your livestock, poultry or honey bees have been damaged by wildlife please contact the Municipal Office or our Animal Control Officer. Our Animal Control Officer will visit the site, provide the necessary documentation and take pictures of the site upon his arrival.
