Curbside Waste & Recycling pickup in Huron East is provided by Bluewater Recycling Association and Waste Management.
Brussels, Seaforth & Tuckersmith Wards (including Vanastra) require Garbage Bag Tags. Bag Tags cost $2.50 each and every bag placed curbside requires a tag. Bag Tags can be purchased at the following locations:

Yard waste can be composted on your property or you can drop it off at no charge at one of our Compost Sites. Material accepted includes: grass & leaf clippings, clean wood, branches, brush and compost.

Brussels & Seaforth/Egmondville/Harpurhey: Beginning in late October and ending mid-November leaves raked into windrows at the curb will be collected by the Leaf Sucker as weather permits, per the following schedule:
All leaves collected in paper yard waste bag placed at the curb during this period will be collected as well. Vanastra: Special notices of Spring and Fall yard clean up will be hand delivered to Vanastra residents a week prior to collection dates. Materials must be bundled, tied or in paper yard waste bags at the roadside by 8 am on the designated days.

How do I get a new Blue Box or a Wheelie Bin? |
Blue Box - New residents are welcome to a new Blue box, free of charge, from the Huron East Municipal Office. If your Blue Box has been damaged please bring it with you to the Municipal Office to receive a free replacement. Additional Blue Boxes can be purchased from the Municipal Office for $10.00. Wheelie Bins - If you require a new Wheelie Bin for Waste or Recycling please submit a request to Bluewater Recycling Association online or by calling 1-800-265-9799. |
Where do I dispose of E-Waste? |
E-Waste is accepted, free of charge, at the designated disposal site for your ward. |
Where do I dispose of Hazardous Waste? |
Huron County operates a Household Hazardous Waste depot at the Mid-Huron Transfer Site, 37506A Huron Rd (Hwy 8). The facility is open Tuesdays to Saturdays from 8 am to 1 pm For more information call 519-482-7668. Hazardous Waste accepted includes: batteries (household, rechargeable & automotive), household cleaners (ie: bleach, oven cleaner), energy efficient bulbs, fluorescent tubes/bulbs, hair dye, nail polish, nail polish remover, solvents, paints & varnish, caulking, glue, fuels, antifreeze, brake fluid and used motor oil. |
