Campaign to Address Housing and Homelessness

Released on behalf of Community Safety and Well-Being for Huron.

Wingham, ON – September 24, 2025 – At the upcoming Housing Symposium in Wingham, Community Safety and Well-Being for Huron (CSWB for Huron) will officially launch its latest campaign focused on housing and homelessness. Running from October to December 2025, the campaign aims to raise awareness, educate residents, and foster community involvement in addressing the housing crisis.

The campaign, themed “Housing First: It Takes a Community,” highlights the collaborative efforts of local organizations, municipalities, and residents working together to support those experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity. It emphasizes that homelessness is not a crime, and sheds light on the barriers faced by newcomers and vulnerable populations.

Key Highlights of the Campaign:

  • Impact Stories: Real-life experiences from Huron County residents will be shared to humanize the crisis and inspire action.
  • Community Resources: Information will be provided on services such as Huron Safe Homes for Youth, the Housing Continuum, and advocacy initiatives like “Speak Up for Housing.”
  • Social Media Outreach: Targeted messaging for youth and adults will be distributed via Instagram, and Facebook, , with placements in schools, recreation centres, and public spaces.
  • Educational Materials: Brochures, fact sheets, and reports will be made available to inform and empower residents.
  • Call to Action: Residents are encouraged to volunteer, donate, and advocate for affordable, supportive, and transitional housing.
