Municipality of Huron East updates Community Grant Program process
The Municipality of Huron East has approved updates to its Community Grant Program, effective for the 2027 budget year, following Council’s adoption of the Municipal Grant Policy (FIN 09) on April 14, 2026.
Under the updated program, there is no application form and no set deadline for community grant funding.
Community groups seeking event‑based or project‑specific funding must request a delegation to Council. Funding requests are brought forward by appearing before Council as a delegation and are reviewed on a first come, first served basis, subject to eligibility requirements, available funds, and Council’s annual budget approval.
To be placed on a Council agenda, organizations must complete and submit the Delegation Request Form, available at www.huroneast.com/delegation.
The Community Grant Program has an annual budget of $5,000, with a maximum of $1,000 per organization per request. Organizations are encouraged to bring forward requests early, as funding is limited.
As part of the updated approach, some long‑standing community organizations have been approved for consistent municipal grant funding through the operating budget and are no longer required to appear annually before Council. This change supports long‑term planning while maintaining flexibility to respond to new and emerging community needs.
