Water and Sewer Operator

The Municipality of Huron East is a progressive and growing municipality of approximately 10,000 residents. The successful applicant will report directly to the McKillop Office (Winthrop) under the supervision of the Water and Sewer Foreman. The successful candidate will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of the Municipality's water distribution and wastewater collection systems. The incumbent will help ensure municipal infrastructure is operated safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all applicable provincial legislation and operational standards.

What We’re Looking for:

  • Post Secondary education in Environmental Sciences or related field;
  • Ministry of Environment – Operator in Training (OIT) Water Distribution and Supply;
  • Ministry of Environment – Operator in Training (OIT) Wastewater Collection;
  • Valid ‘G’ license and clear drivers abstract;
  • Working at heights training, Trench Safety and Hazard Awareness training, Fall Arrest training;
  • Ability to read, maintain, and understand construction plans, specifications and drawings;
  • Related experience in water treatment and distribution, and wastewater collection systems;
  • Awareness of Provincial and Federal legislation and policy that affects the operation of Municipal water and sewer systems; and
  • Experience in current municipal infrastructure installation practices is considered an asset.
