Student Program Assistant (Childcare), Part Time, Student (7:30am-8:30am/3:30pm-5:30pm)

The Municipality of Huron East, a dynamic and dedicated community of approximately 10,000 residents, is seeking applications for a key role within our team. Situated in the picturesque Huron County, our community showcase a delicate blend of lively urban areas, rural heartlands, and flourishing farmlands.

Established in 1975, the Vanastra Early Childhood Learning Centre, is operated by the Municipality of Huron East and licensed with the Ministry of Education. Reporting to the Lead Classroom Teacher, the successful applicant assist with supervision of children in a safe, nurturing, inclusive, diverse, socially competent, and developmentally enriching environment through the implementation of planned programming. The candidate assists RECEs in planning and implementing programs and activities.

Key responsibilities include facilitating small group activities like games, arts, crafts, or reading. Additionally, the incumbent will assist with snack time preparations and observation of classroom management techniques under the mentorship of senior staff.

This position is a new vacancy, and is dependent on quarterly funding provided by the County. The position may have the opportunity to become full time hours in the summer.

We are looking for someone:

  • Currently enrolled in a high school or university program (Education or related field experience preferred);
  • Able to provide a current Police Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check (within 6 months); and
  • Who has the ability to sit on the floor, bend and lift to 30lbs.

The salary for this position is $18.17 per hour.
