Notice of Public Meeting: Amendments to Fees under the Building Code Act

Please be advised that the Council of the Corporation of the Municipality of Huron East will consider amendments to By-law 094-2025 respecting fees for building permit and miscellaneous fees.  Moreover, whereas Ontario Amendments to the National Building Code of Canada 2020 requires the Municipality to hold at least one public meeting to inform the public of the introduction or change in a permit fee under Section 7 of the Building Code Act.  Please be notified that such a Public Meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. in Council Chambers (72 Main Street South, Seaforth, Ontario).

The public meeting will be with respect to the report findings prepared by Watson & Associates Economists Ltd. related to the building permit fee amendments that will be presented to Council on Tuesday, June 23, 2026. Upon completion of the review, any person in attendance will have an opportunity to make representations with respect to the matter.

The Municipality will make available information setting out an estimate of the costs of providing the services, the amount of the fees, and the rationale for imposing the fees, prior to the public meeting on July 3, 2026.  Copies of the information will be made available at no cost upon request by contacting the Clerk at 519-525-0160 ext. 38 or by email at clerk@huroneast.com.

The agenda for the meeting will be posted on www.huroneast.com/councilcalendar in accordance with the municipal Procedural By-Law. Members of the public are welcome to attend Council Chambers to participate in the meeting.
