Nomination period for 2026 Municipal Election now closed
Nominations closed on Friday, August 21 at 2:00 p.m.
The Municipality of Huron East is advising residents that the Nomination Period for the 2026 Municipal Election is now closed. Nominations for the offices of Mayor and Councillor were accepted from Friday, May 1, 2026 until Friday, August 21, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. for the following positions:
- Mayor (1)
- Brussels Ward (2)
- Grey Ward (2)
- McKillop Ward (2)
- Seaforth Ward (2)
- Tuckersmith Ward (2)
Nominations for School Board Trustee positions also closed for the applicable school boards serving the Municipality of Huron East.
A list of unofficial candidates is available on the Municipality’s website at www.huroneast.com/candidate.
The list of candidates remains unofficial until Certification Day on Monday, August 24, 2026, when the Clerk reviews nomination forms and certifies eligible candidates. Any candidates elected by acclamation will also be declared by 4:00 p.m. that day.
