Storm Cleanup Update

The Municipality of Huron East is responding to significant storm damage across the municipality.

Municipal crews are actively working to clear roads and restore safe travel conditions. Please be aware that some roads remain closed due to fallen trees, debris, and downed power lines. Crews cannot safely clear roadways until Hydro One has completed repairs to affected power lines.

Residents will notice tree branches and storm debris throughout the municipality. While municipal staff are aware of these areas and cleanup will continue, the current priority is reopening roads and addressing safety concerns. At this time, there is no estimated timeline for completing roadside debris cleanup.

We appreciate residents' patience and understanding as crews focus on the most urgent priorities. Residents are encouraged to avoid closed roads, stay clear of downed power lines, and follow updates from Municipal511 for current road closure information.

Municipality of Huron East welcomes upcoming Omni Quality Living development

The Municipality of Huron East is pleased to announce the upcoming development of Omni Quality Living in Huron East, a significant investment that will bring a new 256-bed long-term care home to Seaforth and the community.

The project represents an important milestone for Huron East and reflects continued growth and investment in the municipality. It will also help address the growing need for long-term care services in Huron County by adding much-needed long-term care beds and increasing access to care closer to home for local residents and families. The development demonstrates confidence in the community and contributes to the long-term sustainability and vitality of the region.

Council and staff are pleased to welcome Omni Quality Living to Huron East and look forward to working collaboratively as the project moves forward. Beyond expanding long-term care options in the area, the development has the potential to support local economic activity, create employment opportunities, and attract visitors and families to the community.

Omni Quality Living is currently coordinating plans for an official groundbreaking ceremony. The Municipality looks forward to joining Omni and project partners in celebrating this milestone. A date for the groundbreaking ceremony has not yet been finalized and will be announced once determined.
