Municipality of Huron East adopts 2026 Municipal Budget
The Municipality of Huron East has officially adopted its 2026 Municipal Budget following the end of Council’s 30-day amendment period on February 12, 2026.
The 2026 Budget outlines how the Municipality will fund programs, services, and infrastructure over the coming year. It supports everyday services residents rely on such as road maintenance, recreation, protection services, and community facilities.
This year’s budget process included opportunities for residents to get involved, including the Conversations with Council event and access to draft budget materials online. Community members were able to learn about the Municipality’s financial planning and share their priorities.
The adopted budget requires $12,387,401 in taxation revenue for 2026, which is a 4.4 percent increase over 2025 or $521,712 in additional levy requirement. Assessment growth of $149,620 helps reduce the overall increase, resulting in a 3.2 percent net levy impact on property owners. Staff made refinements between the draft and final versions, which lowered the net levy increase from $377,231 to $375,874 based on updated information and ongoing efforts to contain costs.
Final property tax impacts for residents will also depend on the County of Huron’s finalized budget and tax rates, which have not yet been adopted. Education tax rates remain unchanged from 2025.
Major investments for 2026 include Connecting Link Phase 2, Canada Company Road rural paving, and the expansion of the Seaforth Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant.
These investments support long-term infrastructure needs and help maintain reliable services for residents.
