Lifeguard/Instructor

The Municipality of Huron East is accepting applications for the position of Lifeguard/Instructor (Part Time, Permanent Position).

The Municipality of Huron East is a progressive and growing municipality of approximately 10,000 residents. Located in beautiful Huron County, Huron East is a blend of vibrant urban areas, rural communities, and productive farmland. Located 30 minutes west of Stratford and one hour north of London, Huron East provides an impressive level of services and opportunities for our residents. Under the Municipality of Huron East, the Vanastra Recreation Centre in Vanastra, ON is looking for a permanent, part time Lifeguard/Instructor.

The successful applicant will work closely with the Aquatic Facilities Supervisor and will be responsible for providing lifeguarding and instructional services to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all facility users. The successful candidate will monitor the pool and surrounding areas, enforce pool rules and safety procedures, respond appropriately to emergencies, provide first aid and emergency care as required, and maintain a high standard of customer service.

The successful candidate will organize and deliver swimming lessons and aquatic programs in accordance with applicable Lifesaving Society standards and Municipality of Huron East policies and procedures. The successful candidate will also assist with pool programming, facility operations, cleaning and maintenance duties, and other recreation-related activities as required.

The successful candidate will have:

• Current Bronze Cross or National Lifeguard Certification;
• The Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor Course;
• Standard First Aid with CPR;
• A clear Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector; and
• Be available evenings and weekends.
