Storm Cleanup Update

The Municipality of Huron East is responding to significant storm damage across the municipality.

Municipal crews are actively working to clear roads and restore safe travel conditions. Please be aware that some roads remain closed due to fallen trees, debris, and downed power lines. Crews cannot safely clear roadways until Hydro One has completed repairs to affected power lines.

Residents will notice tree branches and storm debris throughout the municipality. While municipal staff are aware of these areas and cleanup will continue, the current priority is reopening roads and addressing safety concerns. At this time, there is no estimated timeline for completing roadside debris cleanup.

We appreciate residents' patience and understanding as crews focus on the most urgent priorities. Residents are encouraged to avoid closed roads, stay clear of downed power lines, and follow updates from Municipal511 for current road closure information.

Huron East voters can cast their ballots by internet or telephone beginning October 13

The Municipality of Huron East is reminding eligible voters that the 2026 Municipal Election voting period will open on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. and will close on Election Day, Monday, October 26, 2026 at 8:00 p.m.

Huron East will once again use internet and telephone voting, giving eligible voters a convenient and accessible way to cast their ballot at any time during the voting period. Voters may vote remotely using a computer, smartphone, tablet, or telephone.

Each eligible voter will receive a Voter Information Letter by mail by Friday, October 9, 2026. This letter will outline the races the voter is eligible to vote for, along with instructions to access the online voting system or vote by telephone. It will also include a Personal Identification Number and information on how to receive assistance.

“Internet and telephone voting provide eligible Huron East voters with flexible and accessible ways to cast their ballot during the voting period,” said Meaghan McCallum, Clerk. “We encourage residents to review their Voter Information Letter carefully, vote early if possible, and contact the Clerk’s Office if they require assistance.”

For voters who do not have access to a telephone, computer, tablet, or internet connection, support will be available at the Huron East Voter Help Centre, located at Huron East Town Hall, 72 Main Street South, Seaforth during the following dates and times:

  • Tuesday, October 13, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Weekdays from Wednesday, October 14 to Friday, October 23 during regular office hours from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Monday, October 26, 2026 from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Eligible voters are also encouraged to make sure their voter information is up to date. Information about voter eligibility, how to vote, updating voter information, and assistance options is available at www.huroneast.com/vote.
