Huron East shares details on upcoming municipal candidate information session
Residents who are thinking about seeking municipal office in 2026 are invited to attend an information session designed to explain the local election process and what prospective candidates should know before filing.
The session is scheduled for Wednesday, June 24, 2026, beginning at 6:30 p.m., at Libro Community Hall (239 Bill Fleming Drive, Clinton).
Municipal clerks from across Huron County, including Huron East, are working together to offer the session to encourage informed participation in local government and to help residents better understand the responsibilities of elected office.
The free session is open to anyone considering a run for council or interested in gaining a clearer understanding of how municipal government and elections work in Huron County.
Topics to be covered include:
- the municipal election process
- voting methods
- the voters’ list
- the role of Huron County Council
Speakers will include staff from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, local clerks, and Huron County representatives. Additional information about the session is available through Huron County’s full media release.
