Huron East Council approves 10-year Community Services Master Plan

At its October 6, 2026 meeting, Huron East Council approved the Municipality’s 10-year Community Services Master Plan. The plan provides a long-term framework for parks, recreation facilities, programs, cemeteries, daycare, service levels, budgets, partnerships, staffing capacity, and other community services across Huron East.

Developed with support from McQueen Galloway Associates, the approved Master Plan sets out practical, flexible, and sustainable recommendations for the short, medium, and long term. It will guide municipal decision-making and help Huron East respond to changing community needs over the next decade.

Community input shaped the plan

Public engagement was a key part of the planning process. Residents, community groups, committees, boards, staff, Council, local partners, schools, and youth were invited to share their experiences, identify strengths, and highlight opportunities for improvement through community sessions, committee and board discussions, staff engagement, a Council workshop, public events, and two community-wide surveys.

Feedback gathered throughout the process helped confirm local priorities, assess current and future needs, and refine the recommendations included in the final Master Plan. The Municipality thanks everyone who contributed time, ideas, and local knowledge to the project.

A roadmap for the next 10 years

The approved Master Plan will serve as a roadmap for future decisions and investments in community services. Its recommendations will help the Municipality set priorities, plan responsibly, and strengthen services and spaces that support residents, community groups, and visitors.

Implementation will take place over time and will be considered alongside community needs, available resources, partnership opportunities, and the Municipality’s annual budget and capital planning processes.

The Municipality appreciates the residents, community groups, committees, boards, staff, Council members, and local partners who contributed to the planning process. Their feedback helped create a practical framework that reflects community priorities and will guide decisions over the next 10 years.
