Huron East announces opening of 2026 Community Improvement Plan Funding Programs on March 23

Includes new Residential Conversion, Rehabilitation & Intensification Program

The Municipality of Huron East will open applications for the 2026 Community Improvement Plan (CIP) from Monday, March 23 to Thursday, April 23, 2026. The CIP provides a range of financial incentives to support revitalization, redevelopment, and private investment across the municipality. These programs assist commercial, industrial, and agricultural property owners in improving buildings, increasing accessibility, supporting innovation, and enhancing the overall economic vibrancy of Huron East.

Available programs include:

  • Accessibility Improvement Program: Supports barrier‑removal projects that improve accessibility for commercial, industrial, and agricultural properties.
  • Agri‑Business Innovation Program: Assists agricultural operators in expanding markets and adopting new value‑added or innovative technologies.
  • Façade Improvement Program: Encourages commercial and agri‑tourism property owners to upgrade and improve the exterior appearance of their buildings.
  • Residential Conversion, Rehabilitation & Intensification Program (New for 2026): Supports the creation of new residential units in and around the Downtown Areas of Brussels and Seaforth through rehabilitation of existing units or the conversion of commercial, residential, or mixed‑use spaces into upper‑storey or rear‑unit housing.
  • Signage Improvement Program: Helps commercial business and property owners install clear, effective storefront signage.
  • Vacant & Underutilized Properties Conversion/Expansion Program: Encourages owners of vacant land or underused buildings to convert or expand their spaces for new purposes across commercial, industrial, institutional, and agricultural sectors.
