Huron East adopts 2026 Water & Wastewater Rate Study and Financial Plan
Municipality of Huron East Council has approved the 2026 Water and Wastewater Rate Study and formally adopted the Municipality’s Water and Wastewater Financial Plan, both prepared by Watson & Associates Economists Ltd.
As part of this approval, the Municipality will move to a new consolidated rate structure to ensure the long-term sustainability of water and wastewater services across Huron East. Residents will see an adjustment to their 2026 water and wastewater rates, reflecting the updated rate model and the Municipality’s commitment to maintaining reliable, financially responsible water systems.
The Financial Plan fulfills provincial requirements under the Safe Drinking Water Act, 2002 and supports multi-year capital and operating planning for essential assets. The plan is also part of the Municipality’s legislated financial planning cycle and is required to be updated every five years, ensuring that water and wastewater systems remain financially sustainable and responsive to changing needs.
