Goderich St. W reopens as Phase One of Highway 8 Connecting Link Project wraps up

The Municipality of Huron East is pleased to announce that Phase One of the Highway 8 Connecting Link Reconstruction Project is now complete, and Goderich St. W is officially open to traffic.

This milestone marks the first stage of a three-phase project that will span from 2025 to 2027, aimed at improving critical infrastructure along Highway 8 through Seaforth. Phase One, which began on September 2, 2025, focused on reconstructing Goderich St. W from Harpurhey Rd. to Sparling St.

The municipality partnered with B.M. Ross and Associates Ltd. and Omega Contractors Inc. to deliver significant upgrades, including:

• Installation of new watermains and services to individual properties
• Replacement of aging sanitary sewers and structures
• Minor storm sewer repairs
• Replacement of existing streetlight poles and luminaires
• Construction of a new road base, asphalt surface, curbing, and sidewalks

“Completing Phase One is an important step toward modernizing our infrastructure,” says Shawn Bromley, Director of Public Works. “These improvements will enhance safety, reliability, and the overall experience for residents and visitors alike.”

The next stage of the project, Phase Two, will focus on Goderich St. W from Sparling St. to Main St. While the start date has not yet been finalized, work is anticipated to begin in Spring 2026.
