Municipality of Huron East declares Significant Weather Event
The Municipality of Huron East is declaring a significant weather event effective immediately and until further notice, due to current weather conditions.
Road and sidewalk maintenance will continue, but it may take longer than usual to return them to normal conditions.
If you must travel today, please use extra caution as it may take crews longer than usual to clear Municipal streets and sidewalks.

Effective immediately, the Municipality of Huron East has declared a Significant Weather Event in accordance with Ontario Regulation 366/18: Minimum Maintenance Standards for Municipal Highways on Monday, December 29, 2025. This declaration is made due to the current weather conditions and will be in place until further notice.
Please note that the Vanastra Recreation Centre (VRC) is temporarily closed today (Monday, December 29) due to a power outage. The facility will resume operations as soon as the power is restored.

Established in 1975, the Vanastra Early Childhood Learning Centre, is operated by the Municipality of Huron East and licensed with the Ministry of Education. Reporting to the Lead Classroom Teacher, the successful applicant assist with supervision of children in a safe, nurturing, inclusive, diverse, socially competent, and developmentally enriching environment through the implementation of planned programming. The candidate assists RECEs in planning and implementing programs and activities.
The successful applicant will work closely with the Daycare Manager. They are responsible for proving direct supervision of children in a safe, nurturing, inclusive, and socially competent, and developmentally appropriate environment through the implementation of planned programming. They will execute the program and activities of the Centre as directed by the Manager, while adhering to legislative policies and procedures to ensure the safety of the children and coworkers.
The following hours will be in effect for the Municipality of Huron East facilities for the 2025/2026 holiday season.

This drop-in event is designed to provide residents with an opportunity to learn about the budget process and offer input on priorities for the year ahead in an informal setting.
The 2026 budget will guide decisions on essential services, infrastructure improvements, and community programs that impact daily life in Huron East.
Taking place on Saturday, December 6, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., the event will be held at Town Hall Council Chambers (72 Main St. S, Seaforth). Council members and municipal staff will be available to answer questions and discuss ideas about the 2026 budget.
The Municipality of Huron East is reminding residents and visitors that overnight parking is strictly prohibited on all municipal streets and roads between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., from November 1 to April 15.
