Trees
Trees play a vital role in the health of our community and the environment. They enhance the quality of our neighbourhoods, improve air quality, beautify trails, and enrich the natural spaces throughout the Municipality.
Caring for trees is a shared responsibility. Everyone in the community can help ensure trees thrive by:
-
Watering regularly
-
Pruning when needed
-
Removing dead branches and leaves
-
Monitoring their health and reporting any concerns
Tree cutting policy
The Municipality has the authority to clear trees within the road allowance. Trees that are diseased or damaged to the point that they pose a safety problem to the general public, will be trimmed or removed at the expense of the Municipality.
Huron East maintains trees on municipal property and road allowances, removing or trimming only those that are diseased, damaged, or pose a public safety risk, prioritized by condition, schedule, and budget. Trees near hydro lines are addressed by Festival Hydro or Hydro One. The Municipality does not cut or remove trees on private property.
