Employment opportunities

If you are interested in starting a business, we have many supports and resources available to assist you. Huron East offers financial support through grants for building improvements and the Huron Business Centre has programs and coaches ready to assist. Essential services

Electricity is provided by Festival Hydro (Brussels and Seaforth) and Hydro One.

There are four schools in Huron East: Northwoods Elementary School, Seaforth Public School, St. Columban Catholic School and St. James Catholic School. Students attend high school in neighbouring communities.

There are several licensed child care centres in Huron East and the surrounding area as well as private childcare options. Visit Huron County Child Care to learn more about childcare services.

Moving to a new community comes with lots of questions—especially about healthcare! The good news is that Huron East residents have access to excellent medical services close to home.

Looking for a family doctor? The Huron community Family Health Team is here to help you find one and get connected to care.

Healthcare in our area is coordinated through the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance (HPHA), which brings together four hospitals—Clinton Public Hospital, St. Marys Memorial Hospital, Seaforth Community Hospital, and Stratford General Hospital. Working together, they make it easier for patients to get the care they need, when they need it.

Emergency Services for Huron East are provided by Huron County OPP, Huron County Paramedic Services and the Huron East Fire Department.  Huron East also provides Emergency Management Planning and Preparedness in conjunction with the County of Huron. Newcomers

If you are a newcomer to Canada, you can get FREE settlement services. Please call the Newcomer Settlement Advisor for Huron County to make an appointment at 226-973-7572.

Property owner information

If you’ve recently purchased property in Huron East, you may have questions about paying your taxes. Detailed information is available on our Property Taxes page.

Residents of Brussels, Egmondville, Seaforth, or Vanastra receive water and wastewater services (with water service also available in Brucefield). For details on billing and payment options, please visit our Water and Sewer page.


Recreational opportunities

There are plenty of ways to stay active and enjoy the outdoors in Huron East! Our community features an indoor pool at the Vanastra Recreation Centre, outdoor pools in Brussels and Seaforth, and a splash pad in Seaforth. You’ll also find beautiful parks, trails, and conservation areas throughout the municipality—perfect for walking, biking, or simply relaxing in nature.
