Weed Control

Huron East is committed to protecting our agricultural lands, natural ecosystems, and public spaces through responsible and effective weed control practices.

Roadside spraying

Roadside herbicide spraying will be completed on a rotating basis according to the Huron County Weed Spraying Program. The herbicide will selectively kill weeds but not the grasses and is approved for use on roadsides under the public works exemption of the cosmetic pesticide ban. Spraying of the herbicide will be completed by a qualified contractor.

A public notice of this pesticide use will be advertised on the Municipal website.

Property owners not wishing to have the roadside adjacent to their property treated for noxious weeds should contact the Public Works Department by email or phone 519-527-0160 ext. 31.

Note: It is the responsibility of the property owner requesting no spray to contact the Municipal Office each calendar year prior to the application of weed spray. Property owners requesting no spray will be responsible for noxious weeds on the road allowance adjacent to their property.
