Environment and Sustainability
Huron East is committed to promoting energy conservation and responsible and sustainable waste management in our community.
Energy conservation
The Huron East Energy Conservation & Demand Management Plan, 2019-2023 outlines our goals to conserve energy, reduce energy consumption and manage Huron East's demand for energy. Under the Green Energy Act and as a public agency, we prepare, publish, make available to the public and implement energy conservation and management plans.
Sustainable Huron
Sustainable Huron is a community-wide initiative intended to raise awareness and foster action to enhance community capacity in the face of global issues. Local communities will be affected by changes in climate, energy prices and supply, demographics, international competition and other trends.
- For RESIDENTS, sustainability begins in your home and neighbourhood;
- For COMMUNITIES, sustainability means being connected, self-sufficient, resourceful and resilient; qualities which enable Huron communities to cope with change; and
- For the Corporation of the County of Huron, sustainability calls for community engagement, informed decision making and evolution.
