As of January 1, 2020 Huron East is the approval authority for septic and plumbing permits and inspections.

Plumbing and septic permits

The Building Department issues permits and conducts inspections when you: 

• install a new septic system
• make alterations to existing systems
• improve or replace failed septic systems

Wellhead protection area

If your building proposal is located anywhere within a wellhead protection area A, B or C, you will be required to complete a restricted land use screening form and a restricted land use submission form to your local Risk Management Official.

Required inspections for septic installations

Work requiring an inspection shall not be covered until the required inspection has been completed and verified that the work complies with requirements of the Ontario Building Code.  Any work that is enclosed, prior to an inspection, may result in an Order to Uncover being issued. 

The following stages of construction requires an inspection by the CBO:

• scarification inspections
• installation inspection
• final inspection
