Inspections
The Chief Building Official (CBO) must inspect each major phase of a construction project to ensure work follows the approved plans.

Stages of construction requiring an inspection
Work requiring an inspection shall not be covered until the required inspection has been completed and verified that the work complies with requirements of the Ontario Building Code. Any work that is enclosed, prior to an inspection, may result in an Order to Uncover being issued.
The following stages of construction requires an inspection by the CBO:
- lot layout
- readiness to pour footings
- readiness to install foundation
- inspection of underground plumbing
- inspection of radon
- readiness to backfill foundation
- framing
- mechanical rough-in (HVAC and plumbing)
- fireplace or chimney rough-in
- insulation and vapour barrier
- interior finish/plumbing final
- final interior and final exterior
- certificate of partial completion
- certificate of substantial completion
Booking an inspection
Each inspection requires a notice period of two (2) working days.

Note: the Municipality does not review or inspect electrical work. Please contact the Electrical Safety Authority for information regarding electrical permits and inspections.
