About business supports

Whether you're launching a new venture, expanding an existing business, or investing in property, Huron East offers programs designed to help you succeed. From start-up grants to funding for business purchases and expansions, there are financial tools available to support your growth.

Joining a local business group is a great way to connect with fellow entrepreneurs, share ideas, and explore collaborative marketing opportunities that boost visibility across the region.

One key initiative is the Community Improvement Program (CIP), which provides grants to eligible commercial, industrial, and agricultural property owners and businesses. To learn more about the Community Improvement Plan, visit our Business Grants and Funding Opportunities page.


Available supports and resources

Agilec provides recruitment and retention services to meet the needs of businesses.

The Brussels and Area Business Group is currently not operating; however, there is interest in the community to start it up again. If you are interested in becoming involved, please email the Economic Development Officer.

CFIB is a voice for businesses and provides members with free tools and resources as well as exclusive savings and benefits.

Community Futures Huron is a not-for-profit organization that assists and supports entrepreneurs. They offer business coaching, loans and assistance with community projects.

Contact North provides access to online education and training for jobs and careers.

Fanshawe College offers numerous programs out of their Clinton site, including full-time, part-time and continuing education programs.

The Business Benefits Finder is a great place to start if you are looking for government programs or services. There are grants available through the Canada Digital Adoption Program to set up e-commerce and adapt digital technology. 

The Huron Business Centre, a service of Huron County Economic Development, is your go-to resource for business support in Huron County, proudly serving entrepreneurs and small business owners in Huron East and beyond.

Services include:

  • Personalized business advisory support – Free one-on-one consultations with experienced local advisors.

  • Entrepreneurship programs and funding opportunities – Including Starter Company PlusSummer Company, and Foodpreneur Advantage.
  • Workshops and events: Engaging sessions designed to inspire, educate, and connect local business owners.

The Huron Manufacturing Association provides a range of services and resources to its members, including networking opportunities, access to training and education programs, and assistance with business development and expansion. The organization also advocates for the manufacturing industry at the local, provincial, and federal levels of government.

Visit Ontario Small Business for information about government regulations and to register a business. The Ontario Business, Workplace and Economy page has some great information for people looking to start a business and for information about funding opportunities.

The Huron County Tourism Team provides support to tourism-related businesses, including marketing and promotions, and administration of the tourism signage program.

The Regional Tourism Organization 4 provides support to tourism businesses in Huron, Perth, Waterloo and Wellington Counties. Visit their website for tourism studies and programs.

The Seaforth Business Improvement Area (BIA) is a non-profit organization established in 1981 for the purpose of revitalizing and maintaining Seaforth's dynamic downtown, and to promote the area as a business and shopping destination. If your business operates in the Seaforth area but is outside of the Seaforth BIA boundaries, you may join as an associate member. 

The Seaforth BIA aims to accomplish this through:

  • Marketing
  • Business Recruitment
  • Streetscape Improvement and other amenities
  • Seasonal Decorations
  • Special Events

The Centre for Education and Learning provides services for youth and adults throughout the Avon Maitland District School Board (Huron and Perth counties) as well as beyond through online programs.
