Heritage maintenance application

Owners of designated heritage properties must submit an application before undertaking any maintenance or alterations to the property. This process ensures that all work complies with heritage conservation guidelines.

Heritage paint palette

To help maintain the historical character of heritage buildings, the municipality offers a curated palette of paint colours inspired by traditional 19th- and early 20th-century architecture. Property owners are encouraged to consult this guide when planning exterior updates.

Heritage incentive programs

Property owners of designated heritage buildings may be eligible for financial incentives to help with restoration and preservation projects. Huron East offers a loan program and tax reduction program for heritage-appropriate upgrades that maintain the character of the property.

Commercial incentive programs

Commercial building owners may qualify for additional grants or funding assistance for improvements that enhance heritage features, increase accessibility, and promote economic vitality in heritage downtown areas.

Heritage designation application

If you believe your property holds historical, architectural, or cultural significance, you can apply for official heritage designation under the Ontario Heritage Act. Designation helps protect the property’s unique features and may make it eligible for future heritage incentives.
